Hazel is not your average sixteen year old girl. She got cancer when she was thirteen. She no longer attends formal school and her mother stays home with her all day, everyday.
Hazel's mother makes her attend a support group for teenagers with cancer. There she meets him: Augustus Waters. After several minutes of staring at each other, Augustus invited Hazel over, and so it began.
